Why HBO, why?
Word on the rumor mill is that Game of Thrones will not return for its final season until 2019. And while HBO is keeping mum whether this is true or not, the cable network's programming president Casey Bloys has addressed the reasons for the delay in a report from THR.
Here's what Bloys told the publication:
Our production people are trying to figure out a timeline for the shoot and how much time the special effects take.
The shooting is complicated enough — on different continents, with all the technical aspects — and the special effects are a whole other production period that we're trying to figure out. That is a big factor in all of this.
BONUS SPOILER BIT:
* In an interview with Business Insider, Liam Cunningham (Davos) speculated that we probably haven't seen the last of Gendry on Thrones. Read his comment below:
I'm sure we haven't heard the end of Gendry on this.
But I haven't seen any scripts, and I don't even know the start date of next season, nevermind having read anything, so I'm speculating as much as anybody else.
