It’s been a very long four months since we received our last fix of the “Vampire Diaries”, but the wait is finally over this week as season two hits our screens Thursday, September 9th. Some of these spoilers we’ve already covered, but there are a few new tid-bits :). Enjoy!

Do Katherine and Elena come face to face? Executive producer Julie Plec calls the identical pair’s eagerly awaited confrontation one of the “biggest surprises” of the season, while series creator Kevin Williamson says Elena will also discover why she and Katherine look so much alike. “The answers aren’t exactly what she wants to hear,” he teases.

What impact will Katherine’s return have on the Stefan/Damon/Elena love triangle? “The triangle becomes the square,” Julie reveals. “Katherine sets her sights on basically making sure the Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena love story hits a snag. It’s going to be fun seeing Stefan and Katherine come up against each other.”

Will Jeremy be a vampire when we see him next? All Julie will say is that he will “come out the other side of this with a much, much deeper and stronger sense of himself.”

What’s up with Tyler? Tyler will come to the fore this season as his character undergoes the transformation hinted at in the finale. Not only will he be dealing with the death of his father, he’ll also have to get used to the arrival of his mysterious Uncle Mason (played by Friday Night Lights‘ Taylor Kinney), who helps him come to terms with a big revelation.

“He has this curse,” hints his portrayer, Michael. “The Lockwood curse.”

Is Jonathan Gilbert dead? Although Katherine knifed him in the finale, Uncle John will be back in season two – but will he be getting on with Elena any better this time around?

“It’s extremely difficult for Elena to see any good in me,” notes actor David Anders. “I’m not well liked around Mystic Falls!”

What else is coming up? Bonnie will become much more powerful. “She’s going to have to deal with Katherine – and that’s a whole new beast,” says the witch’s portrayer, Katerina Graham.
