Vampire Diaries’ Elena & Stefan: Soul Mates

Sorry Damon. We're SOULMATES.

All you Elena & Stefan shippers can breathe a sigh of relief. Although the love triangle of Damon-Elena-Stefan is still alive and kicking, and likely will be for the show’s run… the show’s runners are on your side. Read on for spoilers.

The problem is, that all TV relationships need D-R-A-M-A, or people will stop watching (that’s the theory, anyway). That’s where Damon comes in to mess with cute high-school (on Elena’s side) lovers Elena & Stefan. Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson explain this for us as best they can:

“This show is cemented in a love triangle over the whole run of the series,” notes exec producer Julie Plec, “and right now we’re very much embedded in the pure love [of] Stefan and Elena.” So not even a kiss? Yes, Plec teases, but “probably beyond season 1.” Adds boss man Kevin Williamson: “This show is always going to be about Stefan and Elena. It has to be. They’re soul mates.”

I’m good with that – are you? Elena can certainly end up with Stefan… if there’s some Damon intervention on the way.

natalie February 22, 2010 at 9:16 pm: thank god! I don’t mind that Elena might take comfort in Damon at a few parts of the show, we do need drama. But I do mind if this becomes an Elena Damon paired tv show. As much as some people are wishing for that to happen, it won’t because Elena and Stefan are perfect for each other and will be together in the end.

Elena can pay attantion towards Damon at some point but she will always go back to her true love Stefan.. I just read an interview with Nina Dobrev which will make all the Stefan and Elena fans happy!
