Scottish Thespian, Paul Telfer, has landed the role of Alexander, a vampire hunter from the 1100's. This flashback will occur in episode 4 and specifically involves the Original sister, Rebekah~Claire Holt. It's been spoiled that this is a dangerous time for vampires and things will be getting hot for more than a few fanged folks; burt at the stake kind of hot. Rebekah's involvement will reveal a “big secret that will change the course of the season for everybody,” reveals Julie Plec.
In addition, we will see a 1940's set flashback sometime in season 4, possibly episode 8 or 9, revolving around World War II. Stefan~Paul Wesley missed the his first call to duty, but Zap2it confirms that he'll soldier up for this period of history.
