The Mindy Project: Danny & Mindy's Differences will be the 'primary driver of story' in Season 3

Danny & Mindy is the yin and yang of rom-coms. They are the total opposites of each other and we get it.

As the FOX comedy enters its third season, how do the showrunners plan to deal with their differences -- given that they totally feel something romantic for each other?

Below, exec producer Matt Warburton talked about the duo's characters and how their constant bickerings will affect their relationship on the series.

The primary difficulty between the two characters is how different they are. Every little issue — like the fact that Mindy can’t keep a tube of toothpaste in Danny’s house without him being bothered by it — will be the primary driver of story, at least for the time being. We know the characters love each other, so introducing a lot of people from the outside just to upset that would feel phony. Our motive in the beginning is just, ‘What makes it impossible for these two people, who love each other, to get along?'

The Mindy Project returns Tuesday, Sept. 16 on FOX.
