'The Dark Tower' film starring Idris Elba & Matthew McConaughey gets small screen adaptation

The Dark Tower film is getting a spinoff TV series.

The film's production company, MRC and Sony Pictures have signed on to develop a small screen adaptation of the upcoming 2017 film. Producer and writer Akiva Goldsman is attached to work on the project. 

The Dark Tower TV series is being eyed to run for a total of 10-13 episodes, depending on how the scripts will develop. Production is set to begin in early 2017 with plans of getting released in 2018. However, they are still looking for a network to give home for the project. 

The film's lead, Idris Elba has signed on to appear, while his co-star, McConaughey is yet to be determined.
