Two familiar faces will be returning to Supernatural in season 6! But considering both are technically dead, it will be interesting to see how the writers bring them back.
First, EW’s Ausiello is reporting that Mitch Pileggi, who played the boys’ grandfather Samuel, will be appearing in multiple episodes during the new season. What brings him back? Here’s what Sera Gamble had to say:
For one thing, he’s a Campbell — from Sam and Dean’s mom’s side of the family, which, unlike their dad’s, has actually been into hunting for a very long time. There’s a whole side of Sam and Dean’s history that they know nothing about. We’ll get to find out a bit about it this season.
I for one can’t wait to see them delve deeper into the Campbell family history. It’s still unclear, however, whether we will be seeing this play out in flashbacks, whether Sam and Dean will go back in time, or whether Grandpa will be coming back to life (all of which has been done on Supernatural before).
Second, Fred Lehne confirmed at a convention that he will be returning as our favorite yellow-eyed demon, Azazel. As you recall, the demon was killed by Dean in the Season 2 finale, so like Grandpa Campbell, it remains to be seen in what way we will be seeing him again. Thanks to zap2it for the info.
Consider me excited! What about you? Are you glad they’ll be back? Any thoughts on how they’ll return? Give your thoughts in the comments below!
