Supernatural Season 9 Spoilers: Misha Collins Talks Castiel's Mission, the Mark of Cain, and the Effects of His Stolen Grace

Mother’s Little HelperTonight's Supernatural, "Mother's Little Helper," features the directing debut of Misha Collins, and to mark the occasion TV Line got Collins to spill spoilers on Castiel's mission going forward, how he will react to the Mark of Cain, and what the stolen grace is doing to him.

Castiel is on a mission to capture Metatron, and that will eventually lead him back to the boys:

Cas had some people volunteering to follow him, but Cas is definitely a reluctant leader. He’s continuing on his mission to hunt down Metatron. That’s his primary objective. As the season progresses, his objective of capturing Metatron and the boys’ mission will converge and they will be collaborating with one another.

Cas will notice what's going in with Dean and the Mark of Cain, and he will not be happy about it, because as Collins says, the angel "knows it's a bad thing."

Cas has his own bad thing to deal with: his stolen grace. And Collins shares spoilers on its effects:

It’s affecting his powers. Maybe on an emotional level, it’s affecting him in that he knows that he’s a bit of a ticking time bomb. This stolen grace is a bit of a cancer that’s eating at him.
