Supernatural Season 6 Spoilers!

May 20, 2010

It’s upfronts time in Hollywood, and the CW has released its new fall schedule and details about the upcoming season of Supernatural.

First off, Supernatural is moving! It is being paired with Smallville, moving to Fridays at 9 pm. While I’m happy that the show is being moved away from the ratings combat zone that is Thursday night, Friday night is usually where they move shows to die. Is this a signal that this will be its last season? Is it simply that the CW wanted to use Vampire Diaries’ good ratings to help launch its new Nikita show, and they moved Supernatural to its most logical place, back with old schedule-mate Smallville? What do you think?

Next, Ausiello has a spoiler-filled synopsis of what we can expect to see in Season 6. Here’s the press release:

Season six will be a season of mystery and shadow. Heaven and Hell have been left in complete disarray since the apocalyptic events of season five. And now, monsters, angels and demons roam across a lawless and chaotic landscape. And so Dean Winchester, who has retired from hunting and sworn never to return, finds himself being pulled back into his old life – pulled back by none other than Sam Winchester, who has escaped from Hell. The two reunite to beat back the rising tide of creatures and demon-spawn, but they quickly realize that neither are who they used to be, their relationship isn’t what it used to be, and that nothing is what it seems.

We knew they wouldn’t keep Sam and Dean apart for too long. I’m intrigued by the final line, “neither are who they used to be…and nothing is what it seems.” A hint that perhaps Sam is not who/what we think he is? Tell me your thoughts in the comments below!

This makes so excited for the 6th season! I love Jensen and Jared and cannot wait to see Sam and Dean in action once again! I have read that the show moving to Friday is a good thing, because Smallville has had great success with its move from Wednesday after so many seasons. I also heard that this season coming up is the last for Clark and the gang. I have not watched the show since probably the second or third season so I really don’t know what is going on with it, but I think Superman has been on long enough. But, I do feel for its many loyal fans and viewers who are upset by this news.
It does not really bother me what night the Winchesters are on, just as long as they are back! It should be another awesome season! I miss them already!

So we’ll get to see more of angels and demons, that’s fabulous :) I was preocupied that the end of tha apocalypse meant the end of those characters as well. An after apocalyptic world sounds interesting. If that is really “solely” Sam, he’s changed. Hell changes people, right?
Changing schedules is not a bad thing I suppose. Fans like me do not mind hehe XD I can’t wait for the next season to start!!!
“neither are who they used to be…and nothing is what it seems.” can be interpreted in many ways… I’m theorizing already, I think it’s going to be a great new season XD

I really wanted Sam and Dean to form even a stronger relationship as brothers this season. Also, Dean was in hell too, has everyone forgotten that fact? They can relate better now being through the same horrible things and help each other.
John lost Mary, Sam lost Jessica, Is it Dean’s turn to lose Lisa? If the relationship they had as brothers doesn’t improve, the show won’t get it’s spark back. Family is what matters- says the ending of season 5.

I absolutely cannot wait until Season 6 arrives! It is going to be along summer I am afraid (which is a good and bad thing, all depending on how you look at it), but watching the reruns and the DVDs will help me a lot. I wonder just what the first few minutes will be like-how much time will have past since the season finale and Sam going to hell, since Dean does not know that Sam is alive? Will Sam really be Sam or will Lucifer still have a part of him? Keep the spoilers coming. I am anxious for some juicy tidbits as the summer rolls along and we get closer to the very long-awaited season premiere!

Ok I just read an article about the next season and it made me realise something HUGE! In the end Chuck dissapears out of thin air and it left me so confused as to how. Then the article made me rememeber him saying Dean and Bobby would not see eanh other for a very long time and yet Chuck is only supposed to be able to see into the distant future. He cant see that far away. And one last thing. God is supposed to be somewhere on earth.

Oh and the way that Sam was shown in the end it made it seem like it was Lucifer not Sam. First the light went out which is a Lucifer thing and second when Lucifer is in Sam his face shows it and to me it showed it. And one last thing, How could Sam get Lucifer out of his body? Just because he fell into Hell doesn’t mean they magically seperate. Then it would be Sam and a ghost Lucifer trapped in a cage. But if they didnt seperate it would still be Lucifer in Sam’s body trapped.

Maybe the gate closed all the way for Micheal and Lucifer got out beforehand. Micheal falling in has to play some role.

One more thing for the people actually being nice and reading this. I am a nerd that gets really into my shows. And I like to share my ideas sorry for the length. To me Jared Padelacki and Jensen Ackles are just Sam and Dean.

Why is no one asking the most important question?

Who the hell is God? My collegue and I believe it is Chuck. Not only has he basically stayed ” neutral” But he also was able to help the boys, and steer them in the right direction. Not to mention HE FREAKING DISAPPEARED in the last episode. And so he was always was able to know where the boys were, and he could cover up the fact that he was god by pretending he was a prophet.

Who else could it be? Comments?

I am a big fan of supernatural and I was relieved to hear there is another season coming. I would rather Dean and Sam get back to their roots of fighting more than just angels and demons. But just the same as long as Sam is really Sam, and no more Lucifer in that sense, I will be happy. As far as the ending of season five I agree with Kyle. It looks like I won’t get my wish. I just don’t want to wonder all next season about if it’s really Sam or Lucifer in the body. I also hope that Dean stays with Lisa if possible since they have done took Jo out of the mix. They would have been perfect together! As for Chuck I don’t think he is God, but maybe his work on Earth was done. Would God just be sleeping with chicks while writing about the death of his creations. I hope not.

I definitely agree with what Pam is saying. There is no way I want to wait the whole season to see if its truly Sam. My bets (which I completely disagree with) are still on it being Lucifer. Sam is no way that powerful. And I balled my eyes out when Jo died. I could not believe that happened and hate that it did. The strange thing for me is we barely even know anything about Lisa and why Dean likes he so much. While we watched Jo and Dean’s relationship happen. And finally the Chuck/god thing. We do know by the prophet in heaven that he doesnt care or atleast thats what he says. So if he doesn’t care it would be Chuck. I keep trying to think of way that this could be a plan of god’s but I really cannot ponder why. Either way I can’t wait for the Chuck mystery to be revealed.

I want to believe the real Sam gets out (even though I am getting sick of them dying so many times) because the above spoiler says they go back to fighting evil, but also to quote the spoiler nothing is as it seems. Either way I am way excited for it.

Sam is Lucifer’s vessel so I think he may still be Lucifer in Sam’s body trying to take over Heaven and rule Hell using Dean.

I think Sam is Lucifer’s son (which Lucifer hinted at in Swan Song). Add that to Sam’s time in hell, I think Sam will be very different in Season 6. I think that is what the spoilers have been hinting at when they say “neither is who they were and nothing is what it seems.”

When Lucifer was in the “cage,” he didn’t need a vessel, so it’s very likely that they were separated when Sam (with Lucifer inside of him) jumped into the cage. However, if Sam is out, then it’s possible that Lucifer hitched a ride in Sam’s meat suit. With the light flickering at the end of Swan Song and the look on Sam’s face, something tells me that “Sam” was not Sam or that he has changed tremendously. I don’t think that he’s a demon. Dean was in Hell for 4 months (40 Hell-years), and still clung onto his humanity, i.e. he didn’t become a demon. Unless I missed some caption at the bottom stating how much time has passed (and please correct me if I did miss it), “Sam” was back in about a day, so I don’t think that he became a demon. Also, since Cas is going to be back, the angel storyline isn’t completely finished, so it’s possible that Lucifer (and maybe Michael if he breaks out) can still play a role; after all, no “big bad” is going to top Lucifer.
I’d like to see something come of Chuck’s disappearance and Adam’s (with Michael inside of him) fall into Lucifer’s cage.
My first reaction when I saw Chuck’s disappearance at the end of Swan Song was that he was in fact God. I’ve re-watched the whole series 3 times since Swan Song aired. Each time I get to The Monster at the End of the This Book, I become more certain that Chuck is God. However, I don’t think Rob B. is signed on for season 6, so we may not get any resolution concerning Chuck.
@Lili, I didn’t catch the hint the Sam is Lucifer’s son. Could you elaborate?

I got that impression when Lucifer was talking to Sam in the mirror. He said something along the lines that Sam’s family (Dean, John and Mary) were really more of a foster family at best. Lucifer said he was Sam’s “real family” and made comments about how similar they both were (always feeling hot all the time, feeling out of place, being two halves made whole…). Add to that Sam’s disbelief and denial. He was already Lucifer’s vessel, why argue that unless Lucifer was implying something more.

well, in regards to the foster family, i think that’s from when he gave sam blood as a baby [the night mary died]…he marked him so i always figured he was talking about that. also, in regards to it being sam or lucifer, i still can’t get a good reading on sam’s face at the end…i thought if it was sam he’d be a little teary, but his face wasn’t very emotional…so it could very possibly be lucifer, or a very changed sam. i dunno, i’m just super excited for season 6 to start! the ending episode for 5 is one of my favorites and i like how they included the car stuff/naration. we’ll have to see how it goes sans kripke

Does anyone remember that angels can make copies of themselves and control both? Maybe when Sam took back control he was able to use some of Lucifer’s powers and make a clone of himself. Then, he made the one with Lucifer in it jump in the hole and he was able to stay free from the pit.

I actually think Sam is an Angel rather than Demon because I think they/we got enough of dark sam being lucifer and all because that storyline is closed , lucifer is in hell not sam.

and btw the comments about Sam being Lucifers son is just stupid , if it turns out that way(0.0001% chance it do)that Dean isnt really his brother I would never watch SN again , and shut myself out from the world in a week that would be how i react.

Fred, anyone with your elequence and grammar skills should really refrain from calling anyone stupid. Now I really do hope that Sam is Lucifer’s son, society could only benefit from it. ;)

By the way, Lucifer isn’t a demon.

I honestly cannot wait until season 6 and as many people said it is goin to be a long summer, even longer if you are a fan of smallville as well as supernatural.

I agree with many people on here, I do think Chuck was God. But I am not sure if Lucifer is still in Sam, I mean if he is and Dean still has the rings it would be an awesome opening. Also, what about Micheal? would he turn evil in Hell? I doubt this as his loyalty is to God but a little part of me does wonder…

We need a powerful enemy to rival last season as anything less than this I think would not be as good.

Also Gene, I think Gabriel meant they were born to fight each other as Micheal and Lucifer, which is why cupid ensured their parents fell for each other. But you may be right, is there still that chance?

If one of them died I think it would disappoint a lot of people.

I am counting the days for season 6 to start. I just hope that Sam and Dean get back to being the brothers they used be. Their relationship is the whole reason I fell in love with the show in the first place and I have missed the way it used to be.

wow everythings sounds so great from everything i’ve just read from everyone…my opinion on stuff here is that Chuck is probablly God or sum kind of shadow of god. One big thing still left unsettle is the anti-christ no way sumone that powerful would b left uncheck. For the whole Sam being back its probably like a shadow of the real Sam or something left behind when Lucifer took over his body. i dont know maybe something to thinking about

I watched a lot of interviews that came out of the San Diego Comic Con held this year. Eric Kripke stated that it was not their intention to make Chuck “the almighty.” He said that would be very “M. night douchiness.” He said it is up to the fans’ interpretation of whether Chuck was God or acting as merely a prophet. As for the show, they are leaving behind angels and demons because they felt that was overly done. Basically, heaven and hell are in left in chaos. Which leaves us with Sam. Jared Padalecki said that is still up to the writers. Sam has been back for a year before he confronts Dean. He feels that Dean has left deserved some sort of normal life. Circumstances change and he is compelled to confront Dean who thinks he has left hunting for good. What brings Sam back and how will not be explored for a least half the season – 9 or 10 episodes. Problem with doing research on all of it is that I have run out of new tidbits. I am going through a drough of new Supernatural info and I still have another month and half to go before the first episode of season 6. So, if you feel compelled to look at what is going to happen….DON’T. Leave the monsters alone until they start making noises under your bed.

I am going through a drough of new Supernatural info and I still have another month and half to go before the first episode of season 6. So, if you feel compelled to look at what is going to happen….DON’T. Leave the monsters alone until they start making noises under your bed.

Nice input Karen. I must admit, I’m slightly disappointed if they do get left behind. Going back to hunting monsters seems a little boring after the devil and angels. Having waited all summer for supernatural to be back on, we are now going to be sat on the edge of our seats wanting to know what happened to Sam.

First of all I just got to say that at the end of the 5th season Lucifer and Michael did not fall into hell … they fell into the cage (prison) that was
constructed by God to lock away his disobedient son. If they had gone to hell an angel could have easily escaped much like Castiel escaped with Dean after he stormed hell and retrieved Dean upon breaking the very first seal starting the apocalypse. I wasn’t quite sure what to make of Sam escaping and showing up outside Lisa’s house. Does that mean Adam was able to escape too? Maybe as a part of season 6 Adam will join his brothers in this season as a regular. As for Chuck … that is way above my understanding. You get the impression that he is God at the end but the way he acts and things he does while on the show doesn’t seem like things God would do. So I am totally confused.

I dont want Adam to join the brothers as a regular, please dont make that happen. Apart from not liking him, this would be the worse thing that could happen to the show. We just Sam and Dean. NO ONE ELSE.

Has anyone thought that Dean and Sam’s dad (John) might be god? Or am I just blowing smoke?

I can’t see that but all kinds of things happen in this show. Sam could be God. He just doesn’t know it yet. ( or even Dean). I dont think Chuck is God. Or maybe, as alot of people believe anyway, there is no God at all.

Who says Chuck disappeared? It could just mean his part was done and so he was gone somewhere else. I think that is just a plot device to make us think that Chuck is more than a prophet. A prophet is special but that does not make him God. I think that whole image is to throw us off. According to that guy in heaven, Joshua, said that God had done all he is going to do so I doubt if he is Chuck. I agree with Cherry bun, anyone can be God at this point LOL.

All this talk about Lucifer is interesting, but if as Lucifer said Sam is family, wouldn’t that make him family to Michael as well. Who is to say that Michael didn’t hop a ride when Sam got out. Remember Michael wasn’t in his “true” vessel, who is to say that once down in the pit he didn’t jump ship. Sam would never pull Dean back into the life. I say that because he told Dean not to try and get him out of the cage once he jumped in. Sam would want Dean to have a life. Michael on the other hand would want Dean and Sam let losose on the world because he didn’t say yes to him. What better way to do that than through Sam?

I wonder if Castiel will go back to being a human in this season and reunite with his wife and child.
