Supernatural Season 5 Episode 22 “Swan Song”: Official Synopsis!

4 years ago, by

April 25, 2010

This is it, spoiler lovers. The big one, the culmination of the entire season. And it looks like Castiel and Bobby have another bullseye on their backs: we’re losing a “beloved character.” Part of me doesn’t even want to see this episode; I’m afraid of what’s going to happen.

THE APOCALYPSE – The entire season has been leading up to this showdown between good and evil. With the Apocalypse looming, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) realize they are out of options and make heart-breaking decisions that will change their lives forever. A beloved character is killed. Posted on KSiteTV. Steve Boyum directed the episode with teleplay by Eric Kripke and story by Eric Gewitz (#522).

i dunno though . . . if sam dies then there wouldnt be a need for a sixth series ad they contracted for a sixth series and during a interview video online both jensen and jared said they would be really game for a sixth series . . . a sixth series without sam or dean would be rubbish . . . im finkin bobby or castiel

Why did sam have to say yes! I love Dean so much and now he has to rescue sam again” – Year i think its going to be castiel that dies i doubt they’ll kill of bobby cause sam and dean kind of need him- i just hope its not sam or dean that dies i dont think i would be able to cope with that” – I love jensen ackles so much !

  • Cas

I don’t think Castiel is the one that is going to die. Remember the episode “The End” where we go 5 years into the future and Castiel was still in? Based on the whole “destiny can’t be changed” theory, Castiel shouldn’t die in the season finale. I hope I’m correct because I seriously don’t want to see Castiel die.

If they kill Sam then Castiel could kind of take his place in the next season, it wouldn’t be near as good but it’s possible. Well about the whole destiny thing, they’ve already changed it a bit so he could die. I just want it to be Bobby.

“John” it will have a next season if that was what you were asking.

“Castielious” how did you already see it? I wanna see it. Actually I think Cas is cute as a human. How could Adam do that? Man, I was hoping Bobby would get ganked.

It cant be bobby because in the episode “the end” his wheelchair is tipped over with bullet holes in it the show wouldnt be the show without jared or jensen cas is in the future so is sam and so is dean but it definitely could be adam because in that episode future dean says i have tried to say yes and no one is listening the only one that can stop the apocalypse is dean he broke the first seal adam cant stop it but he can try and if michael is in him when he tries game over for michael and Adam I do so hope God intervenes though!

Well Bobby doesn’t even need the wheelchair and Cas said in “The End that his powers left when the other angels left but that changed so maybe some other things will change too. I can’t wait to see Adam again. :)

The title of the episode is “Swan Song”. This refers to a myth that a mute swan sings a beautiful song right before it dies. To me, this could mean a few things.
One- Bobby has been crippled all season, so he’s been sort of “useless” as a hunter. He could do something fantastic in the finale before he dies, making it his swan song.
Two- Castiel has been stripped of his angel mojo all season. Now he is human and it seems that he is the most likely target for death. If he makes a sacrifice or does something heroic in the finale before he dies, it could be his swan song.
Three, and the best scenario, by far- Throughout this entire series, we have watched Sam struggle with good/evil, family/independence, etc. He has never made a clear choice on which side he is down with 100%. The epsiode titles usually refer to something about the Winchesters specifically, so I’m inclined to believe that this is Sam’s swan song. He will say yes to Lucifer, overpower him, and jump in the pit. His last act in life will be to sacrifice himself for the greater good. It’s shocking, heartbreaking, heroic, and most importantly, it gives Sam a purpose. I think this is the best scenario, because it makes for good television, AND because Jared Padalecki is contracted for the sixth season. If Sam dies this season, then we know he’ll be back next season. It’s win-win, because it’s like no one ever died!
Also, Kripke said that the finale will be, “the most shocking finale in television history.”
My money is on Sam as the beloved character to die.

    P. S. Something it’ll kill me to have to hear is Dean’s famous “Sam!” scream.

It has to be Sam, but what if it was both Sam and Dean. The swan song for both of them. They die in a joint jump into the pit. Sam struggles to fight off Lucifer, but is about to lose; when Dean saves Sam (Again) and both die (neither able to live without the other). This is basically what the novels were about in the beginning and show how to brothers over came both Heaven and Hell to save us all; proving humans are the choosen, b/c of their ability to choose. Now that is an ending.

Actually their is a book due out in the Supernatural universe called War of the Sons in August. It would play that both are killed in dramatic fashion only to be brought back as the leaders of their respective sides. However, in the future episode with Sam as Lucifer and Dean as leader of the resistance their is one primary point that sticks out that tells you it isn’t true. In that episode they try to use the Colt to kill Sam/Lucifer, but that has already been tried (and falled) when Lucifer brought back Death. Which means that future can never be. So this points to Dean killing Sam/Lucifer and possibly dying in the process.
Next season could also be a recap of untold stories from seasons 1 – 5 – like the supernatural books / novels; which would make the most sense, and to be honest make this the best series ever… No attempts to continue past the orginal story put forth five years ago.

…. I can’t even think of a response to that. I’ve read thouse novels, I guess it would be cool to see them on TV. I guess that would be fine then, except for the whole Sam and Dean dying thing!

“It is Bobby… The actor has not renewed his contract…”
Just wondering, did Misha Collins renew his contract for season 6? I heard that his contract ends in Season 5 too. If he didn’t, that means there is still the possibility of Cas getting killed? Not that I want it to happen. If I have to choose one person to forgo, then I guess it will be Bobby or Sam….

  • Sari Summers

Todd, Sera Gamble has all ready commented that the sixth season is going to be a return to the brotherly love and going beyond the Apocalypse without trying to top it. Furthermore, Kripke said that the 5 season story arc will end this year.

My bets are on either Sam or Cas getting it. It would make the most sense. Sam, throwing himself into the pit and us spending the summer agonizing how he would get out (’cause after the sneak peeks they’re giving, it would kinda be anticlimatic for him to make it out alive). Cas, it would clean up the loose ends of the angel story arc.

And they won’t tell us if Jim Beaver or Misha Collins have renewed because that means that they’re set to return next season and are more than likely off the chopping block.

It’s Castiel that dies. He sacrifices himself to kill Michael so that Michael won’t kill Sam. God makes an appearance as John Winchester and sends Lucifer to hell, sparing Sam and Dean, and acknowledges them for all they did to stop the apocalypse.

For all you people out there just guessing ( pulling hairs out of your ass really). Nobody really knows what is going to happen, until it airs. I love all the characters, so I would hate to see any of them die. But if I hade to put a bet on it, I would probably say character Adam. These network television stations are always trying to make us believe it will be a main character, but what if it isn’t or what if someone may be fixing to die and then it goes off and we won’t know crap until next season. That would be a cliff hanger. But my money’s on Adam, the long lost brother they never knew and will never know.
