That's the question exec. producer Shonda Rhimes will be asking gladiators as the third season of Scandal progresses.
The showrunner admits to a love triangle on deck for the political series involving master fixer Olivia Pope and two of the show's highly-complex men, Fitz and Jake. Expect for the brewing romantic conflict to ignite when Scott Foley's Jake reappear or should we say, when he finally gets out from that tormenting CIA hole.
"Yes, exactly," Rhimes told TV Guide on a report. "It's nice to have a love triangle going on."
(Rowan, get him out of there already, will you?!)
Scott Foley who's now a regular on the ABC smash, also echoed his thoughts on the Fitz-Liv-Jake love triangle. Here's what he told the publication:
"Jake is going to give the President a run for his money. I was a fan of the show before I was on it, and I love Olivia and the President together. It's such an interesting and complex relationship, but we've got to stir things up a bit," he says. "The fans truly believe they are meant for each other, and they're opposed to anything getting in between them. But I think you should piss some people off sometimes."
'Scandal' airs every Thursday on ABC.
