Scandal Boss On Season 2 Burning Q's! -- Will Fitz Actually Get A Divorce? Plus, More Rigged Election Scoop!

The second half of Scandal season 2 is now a goodie bag of controversies -- Cytron bombing, near-death assassination of the POTUS, Illuminati's rigged election and a White House divorce!

With all that intricacies happening and a little bit of steamy hookups courtesy of Liv and Fitz, how do we expect Scandal to wrap-up this season? Will the juicy soap fare ala Homeland with some implausible twists? Or can the show entirely bring our expectations to the next level?

Below, TV Guide addressed some of our season 2 burning q's to Scandal showrunner, Shonda Rhimes and the casts. Enjoy the spoilers ahead!

Q's answered by Shonda Rhimes:

Will OPA discover the truth about the rigged election?
"Everybody has a very different reaction based on their relationship with Olivia. Some of them are people who don't question; some of them have been suspicious all along. Is she the same person for them because she doesn't necessarily wear the white hat they thought she did? That definitely comes into play for some of them."

How far will the Illuminati go to protect the election-rigging secret?
"There's a splintering of the Illuminati a little bit in terms of everybody's agendas, what they're all willing to do and who they feel is to blame. It gets more complex from there and it becomes more fractured as it goes along. It starts to feel, for Olivia, that maybe this is the one problem that she can't fix."

Will we ever meet Olivia's parents?
"I've given some thought about it. Will we see them? Possibly. This season? I don't know. It depends on if they're necessary. It will be very illuminating when we finally see them."

Q's answered by Tony Goldwyn:

Will Fitz actually get a divorce?
It's insane, and Fitz acknowledges that it's insane. There's nobody who's saying, 'Yeah!' It's like setting off a bomb in the Oval Office that the President is going to get divorced while in office.

Surely Olivia will be in his corner, right?

"She will be very surprised. It puts a lot of pressure on her."

Will America's baby change his mind?
"The baby is a big emotional issue so that certainly weighs on Fitz a lot and there will be one of the big issues -- and I can't say whether it's decisive or not -- but it's a big factor. But Fitz has had a moment of clarity by almost losing his life and he's done fooling around."

Q answered by Bellamy Young:

What lengths will Mellie go to in order to stop the divorce?
"Mellie won't go down without a fight. He can't divorce Mellie. It's not allowed. Fitz wanting a divorce is like a pebble in her road. She will handle it. Mellie will use anything in her disposal to convince of him of this."
