Riverdale Spoilers: Stars preview 'When A Stranger Calls'; EP talks Archie's season 2 journey

Riverdale co-stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have previewed what to expect from Wednesday's episode titled "When A Stranger Calls."

As per the CW's description, the Nov. 8th installment will see the return of Veronica's's ex-boyfriend, Nick St. Clair (Graham Phillips); while Betty turns to Archie (KJ Apa) for help after receiving an ultimatum that could potentially destroy some of her closest relationships.

In other Riverdale news, EP Roberto Aguirrre-Sacasa revealed to Variety that Archie's trajectory of becoming the town's hero started with his father's shooting.

Keep reading for the latest Riverdale spoilers below..

Sprouse on the arrival of Veronica's ex:

He definitely stirs the pot a lot in Riverdale, for sure.

Obviously, [with him] being Veronica’s ex-boyfriend, things can get gnarly, especially because Archie’s very protective of Veronica.

Reinhart on the Black Hood's fixation to Betty:

He wants to kind of puppeteer her in order to get the town to where he wants it to be, in a very sick and manipulative way.

He is this horrible figure who wants to expel Riverdale of its sins, and he is using Betty to try and do that.

Aguirre-Sacasa on Archie's season 2 journey:

I look at Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker, and they all have a moment where they have a terrible tragedy. Bruce Wayne’s parents are shot; Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben is shot by a burglar; in Archie’s case, his father is shot by the Black Hood.

That’s a catalyst for them to become heroes. Even Spider-Man, who turns out to be one of most light, always cracking jokes superheroes, his first impulse is to turn dark.

* Episode 213 is titled "The Tell-Tale Heart."
