Pretty Little Liars Spoilers: Keegan Allen on Toby's Return and Season 2 Finale

In an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, Keegan Allen (Toby Cavanaugh) shared that Toby's on a mission, and in these next few episodes we'll dig a little deeper into his side of things. So what is Toby's mission? All Keegan would say is that it's something Toby "should have done a long time ago." Hmm....

"'s going to be real interesting. It's going to be a whole different Toby that comes back, and he does kind of revert back to that like person who doesn't trust anybody and doesn't really want to deal with anybody. But you'll see. It was a fun challenge to be a part of."

Let's take a slight detour here and talk about Spoby for a sec. So will this "whole different Toby" affect his relationship with Spencer? Showrunner Marlene King says of Spoby's interactions in the next new episode, "Eye of the Beholder", that "The journey is a bit longer but you won't want to miss a minute of it."

And what of the season finale?

“The writers do a really good job of taking this idea and making it realistic because if you really look at the way that this has happened, it seems almost supernatural,” he says. "They do a great job of explaining it in a way that it's like, ‘Whoa! That's what it is!’ And everyone's going to have their own opinion about it and I think that's great."

While we will in fact find out who's been tormenting the girls as "A", Keegan assures us the show will still have that air of mystery and suspense that we PLL fans love.

“It's still got this element in it of, ‘Okay. I know, but I don't have any idea what could happen next.’ ‘A’ is just one element of hundreds,” he says. “It's a consistent roller coaster of emotions on the show. It's going to be crazy.... Everyone is pitted against each other, everyone's lying to everyone,” he reveals. “It's the idea of keeping secrets from your best friend and how that affects the relationship between you. It gets really good, and you're going to keep rooting for your characters and feel very strongly about what happens to them.”

"A"'s not the only thing that will soon be revealed. More will be understood about Jenna's surgery, and Toby's role in the big "A" scheme of things.

So what do you think Toby's been up to all this time?
