Pretty Little Liars Season 3 Spoilers: More Lies, True Love, and Graduation?

“Things come apart so easily when they have been held together with lies.”
- Dorothy Allison, Bastard Out of Carolina

Another cryptic (but probably PLL-related) tweet from showrunner, Marlene King reminds us that lying is what our Pretty Little Liars do best, and while some lies have been unearthed in PLL seasons past, others are still kept hidden. But there will be more secrets unearthed in the second half of season 3, kept by two of the girls in particular.

PLL writer, Andy Reaser revealed on Twitter in response to a fan that Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) will be the ones whose lies we learn about in season 3B – and I think the question on all our minds is, will it have to do with Toby’s (Keegan Allen) “A Team” secret?

The jury’s out on that one, but fellow PLL writer, Joseph Dougherty did respond to a fan on Twitter about Spoby (Spencer and Toby).

“The concept is still valid.” What do you suppose that means? Maybe Spoby will no longer be at the forefront of the writers’ minds but still something they’re considering behind-the-scenes? Toby’s not exactly in the best position to keep things up with Spencer, although if he’s been playing ‘A’ for a while it sure didn’t stop him before. Maybe it just means that Spoby fans are reading too much into things, and Toby’s ‘A’ hoodie doesn’t mean he doesn’t really love Spencer. A Spoby fan can hope anyway.

Another PLL concept that may be valid is the topic of characters graduating. The fans definitely want it, but Andy Reaser says it probably won’t be covered in the series until a later date, more than likely season 5 – which means senior year will span a couple seasons (quite a different direction than Ryan Murphy took with Glee, although unlike New Directions, ‘A’ isn’t exactly restricted to a choir room).

What do you think about an eventual graduation episode, Spoby, and all these lies about to crop up later in the season? Share your thoughts in the comments!
