Before getting murdered on the Rosewood Halloween Ghost Train, Garrett (Yani Gellman) was able to tell Spencer (Troian Bellisario) crucial information about the night Alison was killed - which included a strong hint that Byron Montgomery, Aria's dad, may have been involved.
So what will Aria (Lucy Hale) think about this big reveal? Pretty Little Liars executive producer, Oliver Goldstick says that when season 3 resumes in January, the plot will definitely be revisiting Byron's role in all this - and Aria will be in major denial about it.
“You’re going to like the season opener — and by no means is this a red herring. We are definitely going down this path. I’m sorry to tell you, but even the adults in Rosewood have been doing some lying — and they’ve got some real stuff to hide! You’re going to find out a lot more about his relationship to Alison in the first couple episodes… A parent may have killed one of his daughter’s friends. This is a huge secret that’s been swept beneath the rug. What does it do to any family in this town if, in fact, one of those parents goes to jail?
"...the whole season opener is Aria in complete denial about this. There’s absolutely no way that her father could be involved with Alison.”
And you know those "voices" Aria heard outside while trapped in the crate during the Halloween special? Well, Oliver also teased that the midseason premiere in January, "She's Better Now" will give us a pretty good idea of who those voices belong to.
What do you think happened between Byron and Alison the night she was killed?
