You’ve probably heard the spoiler that Zooey Deschanel is getting some TV parents this Thanksgiving. New Girl showrunner, Liz Meriwether considers Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner her “comedy heroes”, and they certainly fit the bill – and we’re sure they’re going to be simply hilarious as Jess’ divorced parents at the Turkey Day table this year.

Check out TV Guide’s first look at Jess’ parents on the set of New Girl:

“They’ve been divorced for a really long time,” creator Liz Meriwether tells [TV Guide]. “They haven’t really seen each other in a while. She tries to Parent Trap them. She tries to get them back together. Obviously it’s a flawed plan. Her mom is very much like her. Jamie Lee Curtis gets to be this quirky, Jess-like character, which is going to be really fun. Rob Reiner is her dad who’s the straight man to all of the women in his life’s craziness and thinks that they’re all a little bit nuts. I am totally nervous because they are my comedy heroes and it’s just so exciting to be able to work with them.”

Excited to Meet the Parents? Do you think Jess’ idea to Parent Trap them will work out? Okay, that’s enough of the movie references, hit the comments and share your thoughts about seeing Jess’ parents on New Girl this season!

    Hi, Parker!

I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the show casting Rob Reiner and Jamie Lee Curtis as Jess’ parents. I agree, they were perfect. I especially cracked up at Jamie’s scenes with Jake Johnson (Nick), they were a riot! I thought it would be hard to top last season’s Thanksgiving episode, but this year’s was just awesome. So funny. I only watched that episode once, but I wouldn’t say no to seeing it twice. It was THAT good.

Thanks for your comment, I always love interacting with other New Girl fans! I think it’s very cool that you live-Tweeted, by the way. I keep saying I’m going to do that with Glee one of these days for Glee-Soundtrack (
