scott_bakulaThe third and latest franchise of NCIS, ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ has cast its first lead.

Scott Bakula (Desperate Housewives/ Behind The Candlelabra) landed the role of NCIS Special Agent Pride on the offshoot exec-produced by NCIS boss Gary Glabserg and star Mark Harmon.

Per EW, Pride is described as a man who “embodies New Orleans.” His character is driven — not by pride — but by the “need to do what’s right and does it all with warmth, passion, strength and humor. He’s a unique federal agent working in one of this country’s most unique cities.”

The spinoff’s pilot will premiere on a two-parter episode of NCIS scheduled to air this spring. For more details, check out the official description released by CBS below:

“The NCIS New Orleans office handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. New Orleans with its rich setting of music, fun and debauchery is a magnet for military personnel on-leave. And with fun comes trouble. It is a natural backdrop for a unique character driven spin-off.”
