Before you get on to the spoiler fun, have you heard yet that Modern Family has been renewed for its third season? Excuse me while I say, “Duh”.
Check out what guest stars will be making their way to the family soon:
- Shelley Long’s coming back to play DeDe Pritchett, Jay’s ex-wife and mom to Claire and Mitch – and just in time for Lily’s (second) birthday! How fun. Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell) fills us in on the details: “I invite DeDe to come stay with us, and of course hilarity — and disaster — ensues. She actually brings back with her Claire’s old boyfriend from high school (played by Matt Dillon).” Yikes! “She’s trying to turn a corner and remain a little more stable, but within the 22 minutes of our sitcom you will watch her crumble.” Just for old time’s sake.
- Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) will be a new addition to the family, playing Jay’s brother Tommy – who apparently is “very physical, working class lunk of a guy who’s more comfortable using his fists than his words”…and might also have had a little something going on between him and his bro’s ex-wife DeDe. Manny, you’ve got your work cut out for you with your new step-uncle. Speaking of Manny…he has some troubles of his own when he discovers that his crush is interested in…Luke. Poor little dude.
- And…Nathan Lane is returning! First seen in “Earthquake” as Mitch and Cam’s flamboyant friend Pepper, Lane will make a comeback in a future episode. According to co-creator Steve Levitan: “Mitch and Cam go out for a boys’ night with Pepper and a bunch of their other gay friends. Jay stumbles into the party.”
