Life UneXpected: Will Baze & Ryan Fight Over Cate?

Ryan, Cate Cassidy’s sweet (and totally grown-up) fiance, has no idea that she cheated on him with Baze right before she asked him to marry her. So what’s going to happen when he finds out? Kerr Smith (Ryan) shares some thoughts on the drama…

According to Kerr, they might even come to blows. But also might end up as friends.

“Yeah, I mean, you know, after a few knuckle sandwiches, we might be able to,” says Kerr Smith.

Ryan may be more understanding of Baze than one would expect: “I think it’s kind of more of an annoying type of situation rather than a hateful one. I think there’s a part of Ryan that is Baze. But he’s just kind of moved on from high school. You know, his mentality’s a little more than a 9-iron. They don’t necessarily get along, but they don’t hate each other either.”

Maybe the men-folk  can settle the ugly situation with a few well-placed punches, but how are Ryan and Cate going to deal with the cheating? Shiri Appleby (Cate) is firmly on the she-needs-to-get-what’s-coming-to-her side of the fence.

“I feel like Cate needs to get called out,” Shiri says… “[Sleeping with Baze was] pretty low, so I hope she gets punished for it.”

But whom does Shiri think Cate really belongs with?

“I don’t know,” she muses. “I think if she can mature, she should be with Ryan because he’s like a grown man. But Baze just, like, gets her going, you know?”

Appleby says it’s a matter of deciding between the nice, comfortable guy that you’re going to feel safe with versus the guy that’s going to be a chase the whole time.

“Both sound good. And when you have one, you sort of want the other and vice versa. So I think it will be very telling of what kind of girl Cate is.”
