Lily & Marshall drama and the biggest character endgame! There’s a curveball or two in store for Lily and Marshall. “There are a lot of answers to questions that you didn’t know you had — or never knew to ask,” previews Alyson Hannigan. “They really, definitely give the fans everything in the series finale.” Which character’s endgame surprised her the most? “Robin’s,” she responds. “Although I guess that’s not really a surprise, because it’s sort of been addressed in the past. You’ll see.”
Ted's final scene.. Josh Radnor’s one-word tease his final scene “Circle.” He further added “It delivers everything that people love about the show. It roams all over time the way our show does. I think it’s a really great example of what we do best.” (For the record, Radnor cited Ted and Barney’s endgames as the ones that surprised him most.)
Where the final picks up from.. It begins right after Barney and Robin's wedding and becomes this time machine that takes us into the future," teases executive producer Craig Thomas, who created the show with college friend Carter Bays. "It tells the story of the 17 years between May 2013 and 2030, complete with many ups and downs."
Final guest appearance.. We do know the hour will include a brief appearance by a beloved guest star. "A fun, random one from the past," Thomas hints.
Final tidbits including the last 2 minutes.. It might feature a robot in a tuxedo; a scene at that fateful Farhampton train station; the moment that Ted and the Mother first meet; and, finally, her name. "The very end of the episode — the last two minutes of it — is exactly what we'd planned out years ago," Thomas says. "We even shot a part of the last sequence back in 2006 with Ted's kids, before they became the adults they are now."
No loose ends? Series director Pam Fryman revealed "You'll see what happens to everyone," she says. "We really tried to tie up every loose ending we could think of, answer every question we've asked and haven't answered. It's just very satisfying." She further teased that "the last minute or so will really sit with you."
How do you think the show will go out? And who is this mysterious gust star set to appear in the final?
