    I think Barney’s half sister, his Dad’s daughter who was at college when the gang visited their house may be the mother as Ted did say she was a college student and in the ECON305 class when he entered it by mistake on his first day of work as a professor. Also I think they may link that girl to past girlfriends especially Robin. Maybe she and Robin have a showdown or bump into each other or something. Alternatively if that girl was a student and around 20/21 with Ted being 30/31, it could be an older friend of that girl or an older sister of a friend who may have been 24/25 around the time of the first meeting.
