We will be meeting a couple of Cuddy family members when the show returns on January 17. Candice Bergen has been cast as Cuddy’s controlling mother, and Lisa Edelstein tells EW that her mother thinks she knows best:
“Her mother is the kind of mother who thinks the most loving thing she can do is tell you the worst things she knows about you.”
Her mom’s first meeting with her daughter’s boyfriend does not go so well, either (see our first sneak peek here). But House is determined to win his potential mother-in-law over:
“House is really trying in this relationship. He’s not brushing it off like it’s nothing. He really wants to be that guy.”
We will also be meeting Cuddy’s sister, Lucinda, who will be played by Paula Marshall.
And what about the current state of Huddy? Will Cuddy stay mad at House forever? Lisa says no:
“She knows who he is. It’s just that when you’re at the beginning of a relationship, everyone is trying to be the best of themselves, and when somebody does something like he did, it’s frightening because it means that that’s still the best of what they have to offer. But she gets over it and life moves forward. Family definitely triggers a lot more stuff, but nothing that they can’t surpass.”
As an old Murphy Brown fan, I can’t wait to see Bergen as the Cuddy matriarch. What about you? Excited to see Cuddy’s family? Happy the Huddy feud will be put to rest? Give your thoughts in the comments below!
