Contrary to rumors, Thirteen will not be succumbing to Huntington’s disease when she returns to House later this season. Executive producer David Shore tells Michael Ausiello that he has lots more planned for Olivia’s Wilde’s character now and into next season. He expects Wilde to return in the fall, but knows they’ll have to continue to work around her burgeoning movie career:
“We’ll have to continue to work around her schedule a little bit. But it would be a crying shame for us to let her get away at this point. We’ve been very good to her and we’d like a little bit of it back.”
As for what’s coming up for Thirteen when she returns in the spring, Shore drops a few spoilery hints:
“We have something very cool in mind. We’re writing an episode built largely around her return. I know [fans] are speculating about what happened to her during her absence, and I don’t want to rule anything out.”
