Grey's Anatomy is bringing back Izzie Stevens on its monumental 300th episode. (Sort of)
Per EW, the fan-favorite character's presence will be felt through a patient who "reminds the docs" of her on Thursday's episode titled "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story.” She will be joined by two other patients who are also reminiscent of George and Cristina.
Here's a tease from star Sarah Drew:
Cristina, George, and Izzie we’re thinking about a lot during this episode because our three guest actors on the show actually really look like them and remind the rest of the doctors of those characters.
That causes the original group to really remember those people well and want to fight for these ones to live.
In other Grey's news, Matthew Morrison is now confirmed to return this season to reprise his role as Jo's abusive ex-husband.
Exec producer Krista Vernoff spokw with TV LIne to preview what's to come on the domestic abuse arc, she said:
Matthew is coming back as Dr. Paul Stadler and we are facing the issue of domestic violence head-on.
I’ve talked a lot about how this season [we’re refocusing the show on] fun and joy and laughter, and my commitment has been to make sure there’s laughter in every episode — even the ones where the stories that we’re telling are quite painful and quite dark.
And my hope is that women will come out of this story feeling empowered. I’m really proud of this story. I’m really proud of the work that we’re doing.
