Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: EP reveals Easter Eggs dropped in 300th episode; Mer getting new love interest

Grey's Anatomy will air its momentous 300th episode this Thursday and one of the show's producers revealed that longime fans have some Easter Eggs hunting to do while watching the special hour.

In the wake of Nathan's exit, we also learned that the medical drama is looking to cast an actor to play a new love interest for Ellen Pompeo's Meredith.

On Jo's storyline, expect to see her past to be explored deeper in an upcoming episode.

In other Grey's news, ABC has ordered two more episodes of the medical drama this season. Season 14 will now run for a total of 24 episodes.

EP Krista Vernoff on the 300th episode:

I did my best to look back at our history and move our story forward simultaneously. I tried to honor the beloved characters who have come and gone during the 14 seasons of our show. I might not have hit all of them, but I paid some small tribute to most.

I also created a little Easter egg hunt for the avid fans. I don’t want to give too much away, but keep your eyes and ears peeled — and keep your tissues handy!

What we know so far about Mer's upcoming new romance:

The show is quietly searching for a fortysomething actor to play a major new love interest opposite Ellen Pompeo.

Character details are sketchy, but I’m told the guy in question will be a doctor from a foreign country who is sexy, fiery, impulsive and passionate about medicine. He also shares something major in common with Mer in that one of his parents (in his case his pa) was/is a renowned surgeon.

On Jo's dark past:

Jo’s past will soon come back to haunt her. Sources tell me that Matthew Morrison will reprise his role as Jo’s abusive husband, Paul, early in the New Year as Grey’s plans to delve deep into a powerful domestic violence storyline.
