Great news to all Grey’s Anatomy fans of Meredith and Christina. We learned from TV Line that the medical series will air a single episode in season 9 devoted solely to one of TV’s most admired friendship, that is of Meredith and Christina.

“It’s just the story of Meredith and Cristina,” shares series creator Shonda Rhimes. “It’s really going to be original. I don’t think we’ve ever told a story the way we’re telling a story in this episode.”

Doesn’t this sound super exciting? I can still recall the flashforward moment in season 5 where Mer and Christina were seen as a pair of old people in Meredith’s kitchen. That scene was definitely a Grey’s classic to me. I hope this solo episode can top that. However, if you’re wondering about the genre of this said season 9 episode, here’s what Shonda tells TV Line:

Rhimes declines to specify what genre the standalone installment will fall into, hinting only that, “It’s not a regular episode. I won’t be able to explain what the gimmick is until I’ve seen it shot and we’ve decided on the visual style of it. But it is going to be fairly different.”

Hit the comments and tell us what you think! Catch Grey’s Anatomy season 9 premiere on Sept. 27, Thursday on ABC.
