Grey's Anatomy is without a doubt one of the most successful TV shows that aired on the past 8 years. The medical drama premiered last September 2005 with a total of 16.25 million viewers and is still consistently a top-rating contender among its competition. After eight seasons, the show continues to amaze us with its original storylines and groundbreaking medical drama -- and bonus, the chemistry of the whole ensemble which in my opinion grows more and more fans each season. After winning 3 Emmy awards, can the show still strive for another win in Grey's Anatomy season 9? Here's what we know:
It is no secret that the originals of the cast are on the brink of letting go of the phenomenal medical series. This is due to the contract negotiation with the network that still seemed to be unsettled. Shonda Rhimes, however, is not worried. She tells TV Guide that: "I have no idea. I have my fingers crossed. What I think is really lovely is that everybody wants to come back. There's [money] stuff happening. I am [confident], but I have a plan in place for the finale that can occur regardless of who is staying."
Indeed, confidence is key. TV Line recently confirmed that the show is a slam-dunk for a season 9 renewal. Well, what's the surprise? The show has been sprinting the ratings board consistently in its current season 8. Nielsen reported its last April4 episode with 3.3% in the demo (0% episode-to-episode change) with 9.45 million -- and ofcourse, first in the timeslot. That number goes the same too for the preceding episode.
The season 8 finale is just around the corner with a lot of spreading spoilers about a huge, dramatic finale. Shonda revealed that one of the major cast will face a sticky ending. Who will it be still stands on a high anonymity status. Don't get worried for some the originals though, cause Michael Ausiello of TV Line had already ruled them out from the "who's dying prospects".
