After all sorts of talk about Grey's Anatomy having a musical episode, there's finally an official announcement by way of Grey's Anatomy showrunner, Shonda Rhimes: there WILL be a musical episode this season! Check out the spoilers on the upcoming Grey's Anatomy musical episode and see what you guys think!
What we can expect during the musical episode...
For those of you who have seen the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode from back in the day, Rhimes says the Grey's version is the opposite in that it's not an "all-out, show-stopping, Broadway kind of musical."
Some people will be singing and it'll be surprising to us Grey's Anatomy fans who has some hidden vocal stylings. Also, keep in mind that some may not sing because as Rhimes says ,"It doesn't go with the story."
On the storyline for the episode...
The episode will be Callie-centric -- and it's not just because Sara Ramirez, the actress who plays Callie, is a Tony Awards winner. Rhimes says that the episode would've happened regardless of whether or not Ramirez could sing.
Expect the singing to make sense -- people aren't just singing for no reason. However, the storyline is, as Rhimes says, still "in the early stages."
Also, don't expect any of our Grey's Anatomy gang to be "dancing and singing down the halls" because as Rhimes says, "that's not our show."
On what music will be featured during the episode...
Don't expect any Broadway songs during this episode -- the songs will be what Grey's Anatomy is known for and is iconic for the show.
