Grey's Anatomy writers have a lot on their plates when it comes to their character arcs that shall return on the ninth season. One of this is Jessica Capshaw's unprecedented character as Arizona Robbins. We've known her as a pediatric surgeon, brilliant in her own ways. On top of that, she also happens to be married to Callie Torres, one of S. Grace highly-respected ortho-surgeon.
During the season 8 post-crash turmoil, we witnessed Arizona coughing-up blood and profoundly injured. Although she fared the plane crash episode alive, the fate of the peds doctor remains to be up in the air.
To answer that question and hopefully settle this burning Arizona dead-or-alive mystery, TV Line queried creator Shonda Rhimes. Although her answer couldn't be any more vague, I think we just have to read between the lines.
As Rhimes explained it to me, she would prefer the audience go on the character’s “really interesting journey” with fresh eyes “ as opposed to already knowing what’s going to happen. It’s one of the journeys that I’m most proud of. The acting has been incredible. We just want to let it be what it is.”
