In other Gotham news, Professor Pyg is set to stage a musical number in an upcoming episode this season. In an interview with USA Today, star Michael Ceveris shared that Pyg will have a tense confrontation with Penguin which will lead to a song and dance number for his villainous character.
Here's a statement from the show's producers on Posion Ivy's recast:
In the continuing evolution of Poison Ivy’s origin story, Ivy Pepper has been transformed once again taking another step toward becoming the Ivy we know from the comics — dangerous [and] a live wire of crazy energy.
She’ll set her sights on Gotham, intent on making the city her own green paradise.
Ceveris on how Pyg's muscial act was conceived:
When they [the writers] had somebody who played Sweeney Todd, they knew the direction they wanted to go… [Broadway fans who don’t watch Gotham] might give it a look simply because of that, and find that they have a new favorite show.
