Spoiler Scoopapalooza: Ausiello Exclusives

By now, most of us Gleeks have heard about the nationwide casting call and the three extra roles our Glee showrunners are looking to fill. You might have heard some spoilers lately on just that subject...or maybe you haven't. But if you're one of those that haven't yet, it could be my fault:

Earlier this month, Glee creator Ryan Murphy gave me the scoop on two of the three new characters he’s planning to add to the cast in season 2. To recap, those roles are an Eve Harrington-esque rival for Rachel and a gay jock-slash-boyfriend for Kurt.

Okay, so I fell asleep at the Glee wheel there (Gleel?) on that one. But the good news is, I've found it just in time to do a little recap myself:

* Kurt’s gonna get lucky. “We just announced we’re doing a nationwide search for the season 2 cast, and [a boyfriend for Kurt is] one of the three roles that we’re adding. And we’re going to make them a power couple. We’re not going to do the whole hiding in the shadows thing. We’re going to make them popular, and out and proud and glamorous. Like prom king and king. We’re doing the opposite of what’s been done.” But wait, there’s more: “We’re also casting sort of a Eve Harrington [from All About Eve] to kind of steal Rachel’s thunder a little. So those are two of the three.”

That makes me so happy. It should be refreshing to see a more positive take on that type of relationship - "power couple". I like that. Thank you, Ryan Murphy. And Brad Falchuk. And Ian Brennan. What would the show be without all of you guys, right?

And now that oh-so-mysterious third role has also been revealed:

“The third role is an R&B-singing teen,” Murphy tells me. “A male Mercedes!”

When asked whether the counterparts would duet, ahem, outside the choir room, Murphy teased, “Perhaps.”
