Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester) revealed during his guest spot on Jimmy Kimmel Live that the Glee Christmas episode for season 3, an episode directed by Matt himself, will pay holiday homage to some well-known Christmas specials of the ’60s/’70s. Which of course we already knew via TV Line, but what we didn’t know was exactly which specials:
“We’re doing a Christmas special within the episode of Glee and it’s a throwback and a tribute to the Star Wars holiday special and the Judy Garland Christmas special,” Morrison said.
Nothing quite says Glee holiday cheer like Judy Garland and Christmas wookies. Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike Chang) had no hesitation voicing his excitement.
“[Chewbacca] makes an appearance into Artie’s (Kevin McHale) dream in a way. I can’t really delve into the details, but it’s something to do with Artie.”
“It was incredibly awesome,” Shum said. “It was a huge surprise … half of us came in right after he was done and it was like a mad house. Everyone’s face was so happy. They were showing off their pictures.”
Guess the cast of Glee isn’t harboring mad Photoshopping skills after all (alas, Chewie is real!). Artie a George Lucas fan, I take it? Unfortunately, Chewie won’t be gracing us with any “fa-la-las”, as also confirmed by Matt Morrison on Jimmy Kimmel so maybe Artie will be singing to a wookie? Stranger things have happened on Glee.
Who’s seen the old holiday specials and can share with us what might be in store? Give a shout-out in the comments, and voice your own excitement about the upcoming Glee Christmas episode!
