The Hollywood Reporter spoils (and TVLine and TV Fanatic both confirm) that Kurt might be having some competition in season 6. Max Adler will be reprising his role in Glee's final season as popular slushee-throwing, gay-turned jock Dave Karofsky - in a major way too, that apparently has to do with...Blaine? Wait, what?
Adler's arc is said to be major, and he'll appear in at least four of the final 13 episodes of the series. Sources tell THR that Dave may now be romantically entangled with Blaine (Darren Criss), which is surprising news since season five ended with Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine seemingly better than ever as a couple after performing at a glitzy showcase for the all-powerful social mover June (Shirley MacLaine). However, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy told reporters in April that the final season would feature a time jump — and focus more on the core original castmembers — which could mean Kurt and Blaine have split after that. Or, knowing Glee, it could all be part of an elaborate dream sequence.
"Romantically entangled" with Blaine?? Please tell me somebody else is as surprised as I am?
The popular (and polarizing) Karofsky — whose last appearance came in a brief fantasy sequence during Season 5’s “Opening Night” — originated as a generic, slushie-throwing jock whose torture of the New Directions ultimately stemmed from his own struggle with his sexual orientation and same-sex attraction to Chris Colfer’s Kurt.
Midway through Season 3, Karofsky attempted suicide after his crush on Kurt was revealed to his classmates — and it wound up being his former victim who helped him visualize a future with a great job as a sports agent, a loving husband, and an adorable child of his own.
Do you think something will really be happening between Blaine and Karofsky in season 6, or will it be completely one-sided again for poor Dave? Or is THR speculating right about a dream sequence? Or will the situation be something else entirely?
