Michael Ausiello of TVLine recently addressed the rumor/speculation that Glee might be doing a Rachel Berry-centric spin-off of the show:
Is the Rachel-centric Glee spin-off happening? I’ve read articles saying it is definitely happening and others saying it’s definitely not happening… I don’t know what to believe! —Lavi
Ausiello: Believe this: It’s not happening. Besides, isn’t the soon-to-expand New York portion of the show essentially a spin-off?
Oh hey, yeah…that’s what I heard, yeah….
TVLine has announced today that it could be a strong possibility that Glee will move its primary storylines to New York instead of McKinley in Lima, Ohio.
Fox’s groundbreaking musical — which for the past year-plus has been splitting its focus between New York and Lima, Ohio — may shift the action entirely to the City That Never Sleeps as early as this season, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.
Show boss and co-creator, Ryan Murphy has mentioned having an “idea” that could end the series on a satisfying note – could shifting the show to New York City full time be part of said idea?
“It’s one of several ideas Fox is discussing with Glee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, who have been forced to reexamine all aspects of the show in the wake of Cory Monteith’s tragic death in July.
“In an interview earlier this month, Murphy acknowledged that navigating the post-Finn era has been ‘f—ing hard,’ adding, ‘It’s hard every day. It’s hard in the writers room, it’s hard on the set.’
If Glee does move the show to New York full time, it’s being said that filming still won’t take place entirely in New York – although it most certainly could call for more scenes to be shot there. Not to mention Ryan Murphy & Co. would have to figure out which characters would move on to New York and which ones would be phased out.
What do you think, should Glee move the show to New York? (And should it still end in a couple seasons, if so?)
Take the poll below! Which Glee characters would you move to New York, if given the choice?
