Glee creator and head writer, Ryan Murphy tweeted this photo of Glee Project season 2 winner, Blake Jenner alongside a few of our other new Gleeks this season: Jacob Artist as Jake Puckerman, Becca Tobin as Kitty, and Melissa Benoist as Marley Rose. Aw, aren’t they all just adorable?
Blake Jenner will play new jock character, Ryder in episode 5 of season 4, and it’s being said that he will have a love interest (is that why he and Marley are squeezed so close up there??). We’ve also learned that he’ll have some interaction with Finn (Cory Monteith), who has yet to make his season 4 appearance in next week’s new episode, “The Break-Up”. But I bet you didn’t know what song they’ll be covering…!
Far less gut-wrenching to tape was a sequence that’ll air on Nov. 8 (the show’s comeback after its baseball-induced hiatus): Monteith covering Foreigner’s “Juke Box Hero” alongside Glee Project Season 2 champ Blake Jenner, who’ll recur as McKinley newbie Ryder Lynn. “It was cool, because I felt like I was passing the torch in a sort of awesome way,” previews Monteith. “Ryder inadvertently auditions [for New Directions], and it turns into a fantasy in his head, which explodes into dancing girls, throngs of screaming women in the crowd, and he turns into the ‘Juke Box Hero.’ He’s on drums, and I’m on lead vocals. It’s epic.”
It sure sounds like it’s going to be epic. What do you think about Cory Monteith passing on the “Finn torch” to Blake Jenner?
