Glee Season 4 Spoilers: Core Couples Get Kicked in the Nuts!

Update! According to Wetpaint Entertainment, episode 4 of season 4 will be titled, "The Break-Up". Yikes!

Co-creator and writer Brad Falchuk revealed in an interview with TVLine that some of the core relationships of Glee will be tested this coming season.

“I’m not going to say who breaks up and who doesn’t, but they all — Santana/Brittany, Kurt/Blaine, Will/Emma, Rachel/Finn — get kicked in the nuts. And it’s all about how do they recover — and can they recover? And some don’t. Absolutely some don’t. Of those couples, not all of them are going to make it. It’s like Titanic.”

Guess Kurt will be facing an iceberg bitch-slap different from the slushee variety. Do you think his relationship with Blaine - and the rest of our favorite couples - will survive this Glee "Titantic"? Brad elaborates that part of season 4 will be exploring characters outside of relationships:

“Relationships in general will be less of a focus this year,” he says. “I personally think a lot of these characters are more interesting not in relationships. And I think with a lot of them we will be exploring that. Whether they break up or not, we’re really focused on giving them more individual stories.”

With Will & Emma being one of the couples Brad listed, will they still get married? Or is our Wemma wedding put temporarily on hold? Brad Falchuk isn't going to totally burst our Gleeky bubbles on this one - he still would like to see Will and Emma get married sometime in the future. But for now, they're focusing on the kids:

“When I look at the first two episodes, I’d say that relative to last year they have a lot to do,” EP Brad Falchuk tells TVLine. “But I will say that they are probably pulling back from that a bit. Those two characters are vital to the show, but their relationship will be less of a focus.”

Lucky for us, Chris Colfer (Kurt) stepped into this nasty Glee couples break-up business with a reassuring thought:

"Oh, trust me, there are plenty of teases online!" he said with a laugh. "You look at my Twitter feed and you'd think that the Mayans were right!" So look at his Twitter [E! Online] did, where he told a fan, "I think everything is gonna be okay. Darren [Criss] and I still have songs we want to sing together."

Which Glee couples are you hoping don't get kicked where the sun don't shine? Let's hear your responses in the comments!
