Finchel and Brittana may have just broken up in season 4 episode 4, "The Break Up", and things might have left us hanging a little bit with Klaine and Wemma - but the big question on all our minds is, what's next for our favorite Glee couples?
Co-creator and executive producer, Brad Falchuk tells TVLine that the main goal of the episode was just to "shake things up" a little. (Oh is that what you call it, Brad?)
“Nothing is set in stone,” he assures fans. “For now things are different. But that there’s an enormous amount of love there, so there’s a great chance of a lot of them getting back together....All of the possibilities are really exciting,” he says. “But there’s still a apart of me that’s nostalgic. It’s hard. I’ve always had such a personal attachment to the ‘Finchel’ storyline, and there’s real doubt as to whether or not they’ll ever get back together again. So to see it potentially go by the wayside is very sad.”
"Sad" is putting it mildly, especially if you've been rooting for Rachel (Lea Michele) to land Finn (Cory Monteith) since season 1. Meanwhile, Chris Colfer (Kurt) and Darren Criss (Blaine) are expressing real concerns. Like getting mobbed in public by rabid Klaine fans...or maybe just disappointing them a little.
"Initially I was excited," [says Colfer] "I think they're the first Glee couple who have yet to separate. I was looking forward to having a little drama between them and thought it'd be nice not being the ugly half of a power couple for a while. But I was thinking as an actor and forgot about the fans, now I'm just terrified of how they’ll react. They love their Klaine."
“The fans are going to go crazy,” Criss acknowledges, “which is nice because it means they like Blaine and Kurt. I was certainly as sad as any fan of the couple. But they established something so real and I think lasting [with Kurt and Blaine], regardless of what happens next.”
On the bright side though, Chris Colfer said in his interview with The Insider that Sarah Jessica Parker (Isabelle) will be back soon!
"I know Sarah Jessica Parker is coming back soon, which I'm excited about. I really hope we get to explore the fashion world through Kurt's eyes. I think that'd be a lot of fun to see and there's so much we could do with it. But he may give it all up for a second chance at NYADA. I'm good with either, I miss performing and hovering over Whoopi Goldberg."
We're good with either, too!
What do you think, should Kurt delve deeper into the world of fashion or would being a student at NYADA better suit him? And do you think any of these Glee couples stand a chance of getting back together in the future?
