As Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester) put it himself, "It's kind of eerie." Of course he's referring to the recent death of iconic singer Whitney Houston - what makes it eerie is that Amber Riley (Mercedes) is set to tackle one of her most popular songs, a Dolly Parton original, "I Will Always Love You" in tomorrow's Valentine's Day episode, "Heart".
So what's this about a Whitney Houston tribute?
I wouldn't put it past Ryan Murphy and co. to honor Whitney Houston in a future Glee tribute episode. But for now, the cast and crew have something in the works to pay a simple and special tribute to Whitney in this week's new episode, as confirmed by E! Online:
"Yes, we are trying [to do a tribute]," a source tells me. "The episode had been locked but we are going back in." Most likely, it will feature some sort of title card honoring Houston before or after the episode, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Nothing has been made official yet, but what do you think? Will/should Glee pay future tribute to Whitney Houston too?
On the character side of things, we'll soon be revisiting Santana's (Naya Rivera) storyline with coming out to her family and peers - which we last left at her cold rejection by her abuela, and we'll come back with a special guest appearance by Gloria Estefan as Santana's mother:
Oh, yeah. Gloria Estefan just told us she can't wait to really "have it out" with Santana's (Naya Rivera) grandmother over her daughter's sexuality. And then there's the song they're all singing…basically, just prepare for some fireworks when Gloria comes to Glee!
