While I wasn’t as impressed with “Asian F” as I thought I would be, Harry Shum, Jr. definitely delivered a most impressive Mike Chang-centric plot line. As cliche as the whole idea of an “Asian F” might seem, Harry’s storyline of Mike struggling with the pressure from his parents is one Glee storyline that needed to be told, and it was told well.
Harry spoke recently that seeing Mike’s parents in future episodes of Glee might be a possibility. So does this mean a potential Mike Chang spinoff for Harry after his character graduates this season?
“It’s all up in the air right now. It depends on where the storyline takes off,” says Harry Shum, Jr. “There’s always a happy ending in Glee but at the same time the writers are also unpredictable, which it great. So it could be a place where I follow my dream or go with what my parents want me to do, so there could be many different options. But I’m open to pretty much anything at this point.”
I’m up for more of Mike Chang’s abs and fancy footwork (and now his singing!). Head to the comments to chat about if you would like to see a Mike Chang spinoff series! But first, check out more Glee spoilers below, including a love interest for the Beiste:
- You might remember from a past spoiler round-up of mine that Kurt and Blaine will soon be caught in the middle of a gay love triangle, and it doesn’t include Karofsky as the dangerous third wheel. New (gay) Warbler character Sebastian (Grant Gustin) will be introduced in episode 5 – which also happens to be the episode a lot of Klaine troubles start to arise. Namely, some “bars and jealousy and heated arguments in and outside of cars”. Madness, indeed. Oh, and Blaine & the Pips return, as the Warblers in general will be back again.
- We’ve heard rumors that a Ms. Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) might be losing her virginity sometime soon, and while this hasn’t exactly been confirmed as of yet, there will definitely be a couple “doing the deed” this season. Could be Wemma, could be Finchel, could be Klaine…. All we really know for sure is that the said scene will be very “intense”. Any bets on who you think’s going to be losing their V-cards? (Or maybe who you want it to be.) Update: As confirmed by TV Line, it will be Kurt (Chris Colfer) losing his virginity to Blaine (Darren Criss). Sa-weet…!
- As for that Coach Beiste (Dot Marie Jones) love interest…. A short while back it was said that casting was taking place for a few new recurring and guest Glee roles, one of which is a football recruiter coming to McKinley. Since then, we’ve learned that said football recruiter is going to be played by Eric Bruskotter (24, Six Feet Under, Providence). And a new storyline possibly in the works is that, in coming to McKinley to recruit, he’ll unexpectedly have eyes for the football coach. Dot Marie Jones is up for the idea, let’s just hope Ryan Murphy gives it a go.
