Just recently I was thinking to myself...you know, Sex and the City just finished its movie run (thankfully) - wouldn't it be cool if another TV series spawned some movies? I wasn't even thinking of Glee when I thought this (which I find odd), but here you go, my psychic-ness at work:
Despite Internet reports, Glee creator Ryan Murphy tells EW that there are no current plans to transfer the hit Fox series to the big-screen. Says Murphy, “There will be no Glee movie in the foreseeable future. Despite overtures, I and the studio (Fox) have decided we want to put our energy into the second season with no distractions for the cast.”
But just because it's a "no" to any Glee movies in the forseeable future, it doesn't mean there's no hope for the distant future. According to Hollywoodlife, when the Glee stars signed their contracts, Fox included possible feature film rights in the fine print:
[The actor] hereby grants Fox three exclusive, irrevocable options to engage [the actor] in up to, respectively, three feature length motion pictures.
Which basically means, no movie plans right now, but the possibility is still there. What are your thoughts? Think Glee might eventually make it to the silver screen? I'm sure I won't be the first or last to say that it definitely has what it takes to make it that far. But I'm with Ryan Murphy - let's give the cast a bit of a break.
