Showrunner Ryan Murphy announced at a recent event celebrating Glee's 300th musical number that, in addition to Chord Overstreet reprising his role as Sam Evans, another recurring character would again be gracing Glee with his presence: Jonathan Groff as Jesse St. James!
"...Groff will appear in multiple episodes as [SPOILER ALERT] the coach of New Directions’ rival choir Vocal Adrenaline. (He was formerly the group’s lead singer.) Murphy added that Glee Project runner-up Alex Newell would ” have many scenes” with Groff."
As for Alex, Ryan Murphy says that his character will take quickly to "Kurt and Mercedes, and will turn to them for much advice. So he'll have stories with those two lovely actors." Lindsay Pearce will also be back, for her second episode, in episode 8.
"She is sort of the Rachel of her school, and she's so amazing, and she will be competing against our groups," Murphy says.
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten Samuel Larson. Ryan and co. are still sorting out how his character will be scripted in, but expect to see him in some upcoming winter episodes!
"Sam is probably going to come in we think around episode 10 or 11, probably after the Christmas break," Murphy says, "in January with a new start, a new semester."
Sweet. Who are you excited to see more, Jonathan Groff as Jesse St. James or our Glee Project winners? (Or maybe both equally.) Voice your opinions in the comments!
