While Kevin McHale may not actually be bound to a wheelchair, he really does put his heart and spirit into the role of Artie. But once taking notice of the storyline of episode 9, "Wheels", advocates for the disabled see things a little differently.
Advocates see the casting of McHale, who is not disabled, as a lost chance for someone with an actual disability to get the role.
