According to some of Ausiello’s new scoop, we’re still in Glee limbo as far as as the topic of Kurt’s BF is concerned. Of course we’re all freaking out wanting to know if it’s really going to be Darren Criss’ character, Blair…or not, but all we still know for sure is that they’ll start out on a good friendship (hey, I’m down with that, Kurt needs a buddy all his own).
Also as part of the Glee scoop at The Ausiello Files, Darren let us in on his thoughts about whether he might be singing one of his own songs on the show:
“Well, it really isn’t up to me. But even if it was, and as cool as that would be—personally, for me as an artist—I think it’s important to keep a bit of separation from the actors’ realities and the characters’ realities. For example, as much as I would love to geek out over Matthew Morrison singing “Passeggiata” from Light in the Piazza—or any of the Spring Awakening-turned-Glee kids doing a number from that show—it probably would shake the audience out of the world of McKinley High, or at least the Broadway fans of the show anyway. But hey, what’s best for the show is best for the show, and I trust the creators in their choice of music. If the time was right, and they ever approached me to have one of my songs used in the show, of course, I’d be absolutely thrilled.”
I agree. I just love that they incorporated the Broadway world of Lea Michele into Rachel’s character, Cory Monteith’s drumming into Finn’s, and Mark Salling’s guitar into Puck – and it all definitely feels real, but the more and more we dive into that sort of thing on the show, the more enmeshed with reality it becomes. I’m glad Criss touched on this.
Not to say I wouldn’t also be thrilled, were his songs to be featured on the show. Your thoughts?
