I’ll bet Damian’s really “crapping” himself now.
Last night on the finale of Glee‘s new reality series, The Glee Project, our winner out of the final four contenders was finally announced. All our original contenders were reunited for their last music video, Ryan Murphy smiled, and Jenna Ushkowitz hung her head in anticipation…then the confetti was let loose.
Sam Larsen and Damian McGinty have won The Glee Project.
Yep, you’re not reading things. Not one, but two of the four final Glee Project contenders will get a seven-episode arc on season 3 of Glee this fall season. See, beneath that scary beret is just a big ol’ softy. But Ryan didn’t just choose two new faces to add to the Glee cast this season – he also gave runner-ups Alex Newell and Lindsay Pearce some show time, a two-episode arc this coming season for both of them.
As co-creator/show-runner Ryan Murphy told TV Line before the winners were even announced: “The person that we ended up picking is not who you would expect, but is so talented that it’s really inspired us as writers. The person who wins is not necessarily the best singer or the best dancer. It’s the person who can serve Glee best. What kind of character did we need for next season? That’s the person who won.”
Aha…clever, Ryan. You sure had me guessing.
As Lindsay put it, didn’t they all just win? Maybe, but I don’t care as long as humble “little (Irish) man” Damian is a part of it. Were any of you guys shocked at the outcome? Let’s discuss our Glee Project favorites this season, and ideas for these winners’ characters in season 3, in the comments!
Oh, and make sure you head over to our sister site, Glee Soundtrack in the next few days to talk about what we’d love to hear Sam, Damian, Alex, and Lindsay sing on the show!
