In other Thrones news, producers of the show have given fans a hint on how Cersei's season 7 map room will play a role in the eight and final season. The latest clue was taken from a new DVD commentary from the penultimate season.
Apparently, co-creators DB Weiss and Daniel Benioff specifically asked the set creators to make the map room appear roofless to make it look like it's outdoors.
"Dan and David asked us to make it an exterior location in an upcoming episode, but I can’t tell you why," said visual effects producer Steve Kullback.
"But that’ll pay off, too."
Read more from Kullback's exchange with co-producer Chris Newman and visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer below:
Newman: “The courtyard always was thought of as being an exterior courtyard, even before she had the map painted, hence the sunlight.”
Bauer: “It used to be at least a story taller, but there was a need to see the sky in this coverage.”
Kullback: “Forthcoming coverage.”
Since Cersei's dragons are expected to play a huge role in the final showdown, Thrones fans are sticking with the theory that the roofless map room was created to serve as their main entrance into Cersei's territory.
