Congratulations to all supporters of the following CW series: Hart of Dixie, Nikita and Gossip Girl. The network finally heard your compelling shout-outs! On May 11, TV Line scooped the awesome news that the CW network officially renewed Rachel Bilson's Hart of Dixie and Maggie Q.'s Nikita. Both series have been renewed for a full season.
In the case of the Upper East Side's Gossip Girl, however, the fate of the show has now been curtailed. The teen drama might have been given another shot for a final sixth, but the working theory before about the possibility of a shortened series was unfortunately pushed-through. Thus, not only that it will air on an abbreviated sixth season, the show will only continue for 11 episodes instead of the initially reported 13.
Furthermore, The Hollywood Reporter secured our troubled thoughts about this matter -- "Gossip Girl's sixth-season pickup doesn't come as a surprise as there had been conversations about bringing back the Blake Lively-Leighton Meester hourlong for a final round because the actors' contracts expire next year."
Makes sense now, doesn't it?
In another related news, Sarah Michelle Gellar's Ringer, to our dismay did not made the renewal cut too. This unfortunate happening goes the same for another freshman series, The Secret Circle. Moreover, Hart of Dixie, Nikita and Gossip Girl now joins the circle of the renewed CW shows for 2012 -- Supernatural Vampire Diaries and 90210 was announced earlier for another shot next season.
In addition, The CW has picked up Cult, First Cut, Beauty and the Beast, Carrie Diaries and Arrow pilots for the next season.
Stay tuned for the official Fall 2012 schedule.
