Chicago Fire is about to deliver another shocking cliffhanger on Thursday's episode titled "Down Is Better."
Per NBC's official description: "After heroically saving a mother and newborn baby from a rooftop fire, Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) receives surprising news when she discovers she is being transferred out of the firehouse. Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) believe something is off about the turn of events, prompting them to investigate the situation."
Speaking with TV Line, showrunner Derek Haas offered what to expect from the twist set to unfold in the episode's final moments, he said:
We were told earlier in the summer that we were only going to have six episodes before we’re off for football.
So we thought, ‘OK, how can we end six episodes on a cliffhanger that’s different than anything we’ve ever done?’ So there’s going to be a shocking last 30 seconds.
Added cast member Eamonn Walker:
Someone else is leaving the building.
Haas also explained THAT lip action between Severide and Stella in the promo, telling the publication that "it’s not what you think it is."
It’s complicated by the fact that they’re living together, which was supposed to be a short-term thing, but it doesn’t seem like Stella’s been looking for another place. It’s not going to be the romantic moment — yet, at least — and it’s going to make things difficult for both of them going forward.
