‘Castle’ Season 5 Spoilers: Trouble In Paradise For Castle & Beckett

Castle star Nathan Fillion recently teased Castle and Beckett’s coupling and what fans can expect to see in season 5. Fillion spoiled it will be a major adjustment and problems are sure to crop up after the ‘honeymoon phase’.

“I think at first there’s going to be a honeymoon phase where everything is great. They’ll have to decide to whether to go public with their relationship or whether they’re going to hide their relationship,” Nathan teases. “I think Captain Gates, who already hates Castle, I don’t think he’s going to want her to know and she’s going to find a reason why that’s no good. So I think there’s going to be an initial part where everything is fine, but I think rather quickly they’re going to realize that just because these two characters are now together doesn’t fundamentally change who they are. I think there are going to be a lot of problems now that we are just a lot closer, too. I think they are going to open a bit of a Pandora’s Box. I think it’s going to be tough going. I really do.” He adds, “the most fun about playing [Castle] is the part about making him fail. When Castle has success, I will literally make him fall on his ass. I like doing that, I like that he’s not perfect. Every time he’s super cool I’ll take him down a peg and I enjoy that.”

I really don’t think that Captain Gates hates Castle. It is more like she feels that if he’s going to be there, then he needs to really take the job seriously. Castle in some earlier episodes even mention to Gina that, “He had to go to work!” So, he does get that – he has made a commitment to the 12th that extends, beyond – both his love and concern for Beckett. It will be interesting to see how that commitment to the 12th-precinct, actually becomes something more for Castle; creating real conflicts for “Castle the mystery writer,” and his lady love – who I imagine may surprise us by taking a few law courses at some point [remember she's figuring out who she wants to be beyond the 12th, and believe it or not Castle, even though she still has to proclaim her love for him!]. There is an episode where Castle mentioned very briefly – his law degree, back when he an Kara first met. There are lots and lots of entanglements ahead for these two, as well as some very hot cinematic passion between them, and what building a future looks like, and what that means for both of them. I just want to make sure that my popcorn supply is filled and ready, for one of the best adventures in human relationships tied to murder and mayhem in years.

A “wet paint fan” has already spelled it out…. Most of us want to see them engaged it would certainly add another layer of complexity to the drama – Kate said, back in I think Season 1- that marriage for her would be once and that’s it! Castle knows this … so why not have Castle take the leap and see what Beckett does! I think it would be fun to see Castle give her the romantically simple “will you marry me,” that let’s all be honest she really want from Castle. Remember Season 3×3:1 – when Ryan shows Castle the ring, and all the discussion, and Castle tells Beckett so if I just ask, “Will you marry me, that’s it! Remember they both were briefly lost in the moment, to the point that Ryan had to pull the ring out of Castle’s hand. Come on Marlowe, let us poor fans at least get a second gift out of Season 5!

I Personally think rushing it would just butcher that show especially since this would be the first time they’ve ever had them together as a couple and rushing to marriage on that show would just seem pushing it a bit too far and should probably wait for next season if they really want to do something like that just seems like alot really fast and I’m not really sure if that’s a smart idea.
