Thanks to SILive we have some spoilery dish to share for season 2 of "Boardwalk Empire". Cast and crew have changed locales with a move to Staten Island. Empire's second season has just began filming in a 24-room mansion that was built in 1887.
A 25-person production crew was at work yesterday — yellow cones dotted the curbsides for several blocks — and shooting was to start about 6:30 a.m. today and extend until late afternoon. The Browns are agog at meeting the cast, which includes star Steve Buscemi, who won a Golden Globe last year.
"Gabriel, the person in charge of the film crew and originally from New York, tells us that [today’s] filming will be very intense," said Mrs. Brown, a speech therapist in the city Department of Education, who adds that their family room has been transformed into a dining room. The director is to sit in a chair in their kitchen, where he’ll look through monitors as he prompts actors.
Upcoming outdoor scenes of "Boardwalk Empire" are expected to be shot at various Staten Island locations, including Cedar Grove Beach.
To replicate the Atlantic City Boardwalk, once home to the Steel Pier, crew members will venture over to the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, where a boardwalk will be duplicated.
